PLATONICK DIVE MAPLE

Following up on our premiere of Platonick Dive’s thrilling roller coaster track ‘Waxfall’, here’s the latest multi-coloured single ‘Maple’ from the Italian alt-rockers. Doing our job for us with this spot-on description, the band sum up ‘Maple’ as “analog synths and 80's arpeggiators dance on a upbeat drum while the voice sing about the brutality of being misogynist, homophobe and racist nowadays.” There’s absolutely a righteous overtone with this track, the electronics rattling against the injustice we see everyday, through all levels of society. The futuristic synths and pop-punk instrumentation seems to ride a wave of rocket fuel towards some astronomical unknown. At the two minute mark, we seem to break the stratosphere, floating through the space between deep trap and Stranger Things synths. That is before we nose dive back into the most dramatic of indie-rock songs from this Italian trio. ‘Maple’ will feature on the band’s new album, to be released April 20th. - Hannah Thacker
